Willow - Salix alba
WILLOW Salix alba
- Willow was the wood of choice for the ancient harp.
- Bride dolls at Imbolc carry willow wands to symbolize Brigids power to effect the weather. (I never knew this about Brigid, but it was in a really good herbal book, so I guess make up ur own mind about that one.)
- A wand made of 13 Willow sticks represent the 13 moons.
- It is lucky to bring a piece of Willow into the home on May Day to protect the home from ‘sorcery’.
- Willow was hung over the hearth to bless it and to ensure healthy cattle.
- Willow is a being that lives between the worlds. Feet in the water (the gateway to the ancestors) and their heads in the sky the world of the Gods). Their bodies exist as bridges between the worlds and of nature.
- Willow medicine helps pain, in magic, it heals spiritual pain.
- It is ruled by the moon.
- Used for love, divination, protection and healing magic.
- Helps you release sadness and grief.
- Attracts love and will help you find the perfect mate.
- Weave 9 willow branches while they are still fresh and sweep the ritual space with it, as well as your home to clear spirits out of your home.
- Sleep with a Willow branch under your bed to attract the perfect mate.
- Was used as bindings in traditional witches brooms.
I wrote a meditation for the full moon in cancer just gone where you sort of ask a Willow tree for answers and she sends you the answers in ur dreams that nite... it requires a branch (fallen, not cut) of Willow to empower while you do the ritual/meditation and you put it under ur pillow.
My coven and i did It worked really well, I got 3 dreams, all with the same theme to it, Jake got 3 dreams with the same theme and so did everyone, 3 dreams, all with the same theme. And the dreams were really helpful!!
Lemme no if u guys want me to post that up somewhere and i will =)
